World’s Clean Technology Clusters Unite to Form Global Cleantech Cluster Association

Organization Aims To Accelerate Clean Technology Adoption and Foster Leading Innovations
ATLANTA, GA--November 8, 2010-- Today, over ten clean technology clusters around
the world banned together to create a conduit for clean technology collaboration across
the world and spotlight the very best in established clean technology. Called the Global
Cleantech Cluster Association (GCCA), the organization serves as a gateway for
cleantech companies to access global capital, new markets, influential networks,
technology resources, and best practices. With its annual Later Stage and Most
Impactful awards the organization will vet the very best in established clean technology
and offer winners international investment exposure and support.
“The world does not have the luxury to wait for the next, game changing clean
technologies to gradually rise to the surface” said Shawn LEsser of Sustainable World
Capital and one of the co-founders of the GCCA. “With Global Cleantech we are
amplifying the power of clusters around the world and moving the cleantech industry
closer to established success and increased market adoption.”
Global Cleantech takes a two pronged approach to fostering the success of clean
technology around the world, through facilitating collaboration between cleantech
clusters and its annual awards. The Later Stage Awards vet the very best, as well as
the most impactful companies in the industry, to expose them to the investment
exposure and business support they need to succeed. Judges are prominent investors
from around the world, including: US Venture Partners (United States), BASF Venture
Capital GmbH (United States), UK TIʼs Global Entrepreneur Programme, SOFIANOVA
Partners (France), and Mountain Cleantech AG (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) to
name a few. To win, companies must have a proven technology, revenue and
customers, as well as be nominated by a GCCA member cluster, thus bolstering the
clusters, as well as emerging companies within the clusters.
